Cupping Course for Massage Therapists

with Jennifer Wilczenski, Licensed Acupuncturist

10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

This course provides a foundation for the use of Chinese cupping therapy. Your current understanding of the musculature and fascia will be enhanced, the meridian system will be introduced, and you will be provided with all of the skills necessary to seamlessly combine western and eastern practices of bodywork. There will be a strong focus on application and technique with plenty of supervision. In this course we will cover:

•  General History of cupping therapy

•  Uses and Precautions

•  Specific protocols for treating conditions

•  Basic Acu- points on the body and their uses

•  Demos and supervised hands on instruction

This course will allow any trained body worker to integrate cupping into their practice upon course completion.

5 CEU credits will be offered for this course meeting the standards stated by massage organizations such as ABMP and AMTA.

Cost: $120

Materials: provided by the instructor

Jennifer Wilczenski is a licensed acupuncturist trained in both Chinese and Japenese styles of acupuncture. She earned a Master's Degree in Acupuncture from the New England School of Acupuncture. She is licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Medicine, the Committee on Acupuncture, and is board certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).

  • The Chinese Meridian System: how it relates to the organs and overall health
  • Visit concepts of tension and compression in terms of connective tissue
  • How to incorporate meditation into the practice

 

This workshop is suitable for dedicated practitioners and teachers.

Christine O'Shaughnessy has been a yoga practitioner for over six years. She began teaching Yin Yoga in January 2004 after completing an intensive training in California with Sarah Powers and Paul Grilley. Christine is also certified by Daniel Orlansky in Meridian Yoga that activates and balances energy in the 14 major meridians (energy pathways) of the body. Christine is RYT200 certified. She is a Pan Gu Shengong instructor and does private teachings upon request. Christine lives in Scituate with her husband, Jim and their children.

Mudras and Yoga Together

Yoga for The Healthcare Worker

It is vitally important for those who care for others on a daily basis to create the time and space in their lives for self-care to promote and maintain their own physical and mental well-being. Joy Tarr is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Occupational Therapy at Salem State College with an anticipated graduation date of 2012. All proceeds from this workshop will support the annual Occupational Research Conference Project . In planning this conference, OT students develop organizational skills in conference structure, web site management and marketing. The conference also helps students highlight their graduate research interests and endeavors.
